Please welcome my guest, Kirsten Pamela McNeill as she talks about what writing has done for her and how she’s trying to pass that on through her Worthy Writers venue!
Empowering Myself Through Writing
My purpose in life is twofold: creativity and empowerment. I have always loved reading and writing. Creating new worlds and inspiring others with my words. Building characters who readers can relate to and feel like they could be your best friend. My creativity drives me. It’s the only thing that encourages me to live a life that I genuinely love. I couldn’t imagine myself being anything but a writer, an editor, a person who uses literature to communicate.
Writing is not the only way to be creative. There is reading, singing, dancing, painting, a crafty hobby. Anything that ignites your inventive side and encourages you to express yourself. That’s what art and creation is all about. Expression and communication. When you find your creative passion, it fills you up with happiness. It reminds you to be your authentic self. Sometimes you even get “in the zone” and nothing else matters. So I challenge you to find your favourite creative activity, embrace it, and use it to explore who you are.
Then there is the empowerment aspect. I believe we live in a world with too much darkness. We need more light and positivity, encouragement to appreciate the little things in life. To see our value in what we offer. I want to be a positive influence on others. A cheerleader who helps them find confidence in the work they create, in the choices they’re making in their lives.
The next time you partake in a creative hobby, think about how it makes you feel. Is it the only thing that matters in that moment? When you read, for example, you’re pulled into a new world. You make friends with the characters and follow them on an adventure. You may even learn a thing or two about yourself as you relate to them. Embracing creativity and the minds who created your favourite books or pieces of art may give you a sense of purpose or belonging. Like you’re a part of something bigger than yourself. Creativity is a community, one that would do you good to explore in its entirety!
I am so proud to be part of the writing and reading community, on Instagram especially. I’ve connected with several authors and readers who just want to support each other. Part of what inspired me to create the brand Worthy Writers was the people I’ve met online who hold the same values as I do. Creativity is our purpose. To express, share, connect. We all have different reasons for being writers and creatives, but I’m sure most of us can agree that we do it for the passion. Because we know we were meant to.
The Worthy Writers Brand
As I mentioned, I created Worthy Writers. This represents an online store, a Facebook group (Kirsten’s Worthy Writers), a reminder that all writers are deserving to share their talents and receive support. Most recently, it represents my writing confidence and empowerment podcast which will launch September 6th, 2021.
There are so many resources out there about how to perfect your craft, but what about the mentality? The “why” of it all. The confidence, or lack thereof, writers may face daily. With my podcast, the goal is to share my personal writing journey, my reasons why, while offering encouragement to others. I want to help them navigate their negative emotions and discover their love for writing. I’ll explore writing myths and quotes, sharing my opinions on the experience of being an author.
Creativity should be fun, explorative, adventurous. I’d like to help authors ignite their imaginations, remind them how amazing they are, and give them the push to achieve their goals in the writing world.
Creativity is my purpose.
Creativity is my power.
I know I was meant to be a writer, an editor, and podcaster to inspire the world to live their dreams.
