Disparity

I want to taste
the rain on my tongue but the rain
has no flavor. I don’t have to
have Covid to know that
I’m sick.

Once,
I accepted illness,
wore it
like a badge over my heart.
I am damaged. Stay away.

Now, I fight.
I am as normal as anyone else.
Who will win?
Me?
Or the disease?
